My Final Post....

Yep! You read that right! This is my final post...well, kinda. Amid all of the great things that have been happening in my life lately, there's one thing I haven't quite mentioned here yet. And that news is...(drum roll please): I'm pregnant!

If you know me and you're reading this, then you know that already. But, by chance, I have an anonymous reader out there...isn't that exciting news?! LOL

In honor of this huge change in my life, I've decided to start a new blog (hence, the "kinda" part I mentioned earlier). I've loved blogging as "Mrs. Wright" and this has been such a great experience for me. But now, there's new facets to what being Mrs. Wright means for me, and I found it appropriate to create a new space to document that experience.

To all of my loyal readers out there: TLC, my Milly, Rhonda, Bran-flakers, Mrs. Greer, and the Belizean Princess...thank you for supporting me for the last 3 years. I hope that you will join me for my new adventures on my new blog.

And the address to that blog is: http://theyeyodiaries.wordpress.com/

Yes, it's true, I've even changed sites! So long for now, blogger!

Remember to save the new address in your favorites!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Wright

Girl, where have you been?

I guess I should have posted a disclaimer after my last post in March that that was going to be it for a while. Over the last 2 months I've been studying profusely for the comprehensive examination I'm about to take next week for my Master's degree.

I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ready for this to be over. Not because I'm ready for the test, but because I'm tired of studying and I'm tired of school. I've got LOTS of other things going on in my life that desperately need my full attention - and I'm ready to give it all I've got.

In a nutshell, sorry that I've been gone for so long...but that should all end soon. After school is done and graduation, I'm looking forward to having the best summer of my life, and course...I hope to take all of you along with me for the ride.

Stay tuned, lovelies!

Mrs. Wright has an Opinion: Current Trends that Need to End NOW!

They say that fashion always repeats itself every 20 years. When I was in high school it was the 70s that returned in full force. The hippie-hipster look was all the rage...complete with bell bottoms (under the guise of a new term called "flared". Yeah, right). Even though I'd never thought it'd REALLY happen...the fashion of my childhood has returned. For the last few years, white washed denim, neon fabric, leg warmers, off-the-shoulder sweaters, and the like have resurfaced from the grave of 80s fashion. Any day now I'm waiting for someone to walk out the house with crimped hair. Yikes!

With the return of the 80s (which, by the way, I feel no nostalgia over - thus confirming that I'm getting old!) there's been one trend that just won't quit: LEGGINGS! Now, don't get me wrong, I own a pair or two of leggings, but they are not - I repeat, NOT a staple in my wardrobe! They are comfy and quite cute, but with all things, should be done in moderation.

It's not enough for women to wear them with everything, a t-shirt, a blouse, a tunic, you name it...there another addition that drives me BATTY!!!!!!! This, my friends, is leggings with Ugg(ly) boots! Uggs are clearly the most comfortable shoe on the market, because everybody and they mama got a pair (except, yours truly, of course).

Below is exhibit A: Leggings and Uggs worn together. I get that people want to be comfortable and casual....
....but sometimes that can just be taken too far!

Another ridiculous trend that belongs to the 2000s all their own (2009, specifically) is the mohawk and half-shaved head. Men tend to be the most frequent offenders with the mohawk. This, to me, is like the cornrows of the late 90s, early 2000s. There are just some things men shouldn't do to their hair (except Mr. T, 'cause, well, he's Mr. T! ).
I pity the fool!

But for everybody else...please STOP! NOW!

Mmm-hmm I'm talkin' to you! And it's blonde? Yeahhhh....

This is a female version that I'm assuming is supposed to be artistic or high fashion...but it's still ugly to me.

Now, although the ladies are wearing traditional mohawks, they also have their own version of it that I guess is meant to be more feminine???

First up, is pop tartlet, Cassie. She was the first ''celebrity'' I saw with a half-shaved head. I use the term celebrity loosely because she's famous for one song (from 2006, no less) and for being Diddy's #1 jump off. Anywho, I give credit where credit is due...and she gets it all for starting this foolishness!

Not too long after Cassie others started to follow suit....

The worse part of this trend is that when people thinks trends are cool, they do them to their children....SMH!

I'm all for self-expression and being unique, but somethings (to me, at least) just ain't cute!
And what's crazy is that in 20 years, it will all be done over again, the exact same way.

I wish...

At the moment, these are few of the things that are on my wish list.

I wish...

I didn't have to take this final exam tomorrow night.

I wasn't such a procrastinator (hence, me writing this post instead of studying for that exam).

I wasn't so tired.

I was on vacation.

I wasn't summoned for jury duty this week (calling that number is super annoying!).

My throat would finally decide how it's going to affect my life over the next few days. This sometimes-itchy-and-scratchiness over the past few days is for the birds. Why it's for the birds exactly, I don't know...but that's how the phrase goes so I'mma use it.

Time would slow down.

I could keep writing this ridiculous list of nothingness...but I have to keep back to procrastinating studying.

Mrs. Wright's Product Review: Crest Glide Threader Floss

So you know (PAUSE: I wonder how many times I've started a new post with SO or OK...lol) that I like to review products that I use in my daily life and love to share with all of you my loyal reader(s). Today I want to review this new dental floss that I found. I have been a member of the Metal Mouth Club since last July (my, how the months have flown, and yet that can't seem to fly fast enough!). I was an avid flosser before I got my braces. I loved the sense of accomplishment I'd feel after flossing my teeth...like I did something really good for my health (do you ever feel that way? probably not...but that's why this is my blog and not yours :p).

When I got braces I bought these little plastic threader thingys that have been a royal pain in the you-know-what. I HATE flossing with braces...no, seriously. But at the same time, I know how necessary it is for my teeth and gums to stay in good health while they're in prison braces. Annoyed with the plastic threader thingys I ventured out to Target for a solution or at least an alternative brand of the same thing, and found just that! Enter, Crest Glide Threader Floss!

Man, these things are great! All it is, is a long, individual piece of dental floss that has a thickened end that you can thread easily through dental appliances like bridges and braces. That's it. Simple, yes, I know...but they've made flossing so much easier! Before I had to tie a piece of floss to the plastic threader thingys and they would always break - every single time. So frustrating and annoying! Plus it took forever.

Now, the time has been reduced dramatically and I love the 'familiar' feeling I get with these. It feels like I'm flossing like I used to. To some this may be no big deal, but if you've ever had braces then I'm sure you smell what I'm cookin'!

So happy flossing to me! Yay!

Glamour Shots

Here are some recent pics of me...just because I know how much you like looking at pics of me. Ha! Don't deny it!

Amberandom(ness)

I seem to be on this kick lately, of creating my own words. In some way or another my friends and I have always had our own little dictionary of words that was exclusive to our circle. It's funny how that is....how words create exclusion and separation. Think about it...there's a vocabulary section of almost every standardized test out there. In other words, if you don't know these words, then you're not as smart as the other people that do know these words. Word?

Anyway, I digress. In keeping with that spirit of exclusivity, I'm creating my own dictionary. I saw it recently on this up and coming rapper's website. She calls is her "Nictionary" (her name is Nikki). I also saw that Brandy (popular R&B singer from the 90s) created a term on her Twitter page when she has a random thought called "Brandom." I thought that was pretty clever...so I stole it. Hey, if celebrities can be cool and make up their own words, why can't I?

Now, ladies and gentleman, I introduce to you: Amberandom! Whenever I want to post something really random...which is typical...it will fall under that category. I may even create my own derivatives, like Amberandomness or Amberandomism. Who knows!

Now that I've typed it I think I kind of like Amberandomness better. It's more "original." LOL
